For a long time it was not possible for me to perform live for one reason or another. So I started late with that part of my music career and I am so thankful that I am able to do it now. I cherish every moment I'm on stage.
At the age of 10, Patrick Albán began playing his passion of playing the acoustic guitar. By the age of 12, he won in the 3rd Annual Christian Festival in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Competing against some of the best Christian bands in the country, Patrick placed in 1st and 5th place, with two of his original songs.
At the young age of 16, Patrick moved to the United States. Attending Peabody Institute of Music in Baltimore, Maryland at the age of 20, Patrick aspired to become a musical creation in Spanish and English.
His music today is a combination of Latin and acoustic rock with a touch of salsa and a South Beach feel. His repertoire includes Brazilian sambas, Cuban music, tangos, boleros, salsa, blues, Gypsy Kings, and The Buena Vista Social Club, just to name a few. His talents for musical language include singing in English, Spanish, Gypsy and Portuguese.
With the help of the best musicians in the Baltimore-Washington D.C. area, Patrick has produced four albums; 2 albums, in 1997, a Spanish Christian album, “Tu Canción Señor” and one in English “No More 22’s”. His CD “Patrick Albán and Noche Latina” was released in October 2001. This musical work has a Latin-Spanish beat and features Juan Cheito Quiñones, a back up singer and percussionist for The Gloria Estefan Band and The Miami Sound Machine
In November 2003, Patrick Albán and Noche Latina released a DVD which included four live songs and the biography of Patrick and the band. A boxed set, including the latest CD, "Patrick Albán and Noche Latina" and DVD, was also released in November 2003. Both can be purchased at any of the shows or at www.patrickalban.com.
In 2006 Patrick and his band released the much anticipated new album "Ojos Verdes" with the collaboration of the best musicians around and some new surprises and again with the collaboration from Recording Artists Juan "Cheito" Quiñones and the great Edwin Bonilla (The Miami Relatives) both members of The Gloria Estefan Band and The Miami Sound Machine, Edwin is one of the most reconcilable salsa artist in the world.
Patrick Albán and Noche Latina were nominated in 2000 and 1999 by WAMA (Washington Area Music Association) for Best Latin Band and Best Latin Vocalist. They also performed live at the 2000 WAMA awards ceremony, which was covered by the Washington Post as well as Public Television.
On April 12, 2000, Patrick and his band preformed at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. This performance is available at the Kennedy Center’s website.
Patrick has been involved in producing a few of Baltimore’s local artists, including Brian Jack, formally a member of “Child’s Play” in the making of “Collage”, Brian’s solo album. Patrick was personally involved in the song, “Still Strong”, which he originally wrote and played acoustically for the “Collage” album. “Still Strong” was re-released by Patrick himself on his 1997 album, “No More 22’s.”

For 2025, Patrick's new Project is call Patrick Albán And His Buena Vista Social, This new band comes from many years of personal musical ideas in Patrick's world.
"Many years ago, I was in Quito, Ecuador and heard this group playing in this bar and loved the music they were playing, it was so unique, I just had to know who’s songs were they performing, came back to the US found the group and talked to Juanito and ask him to learn a couple of their songs, people in DC didn’t know the group yet and the latin groups were all stuck on the heavy Salsa feel, I loved the flavor and the history of the group and insisted in learning a few of their songs and include them in our repertoire, some people including myself thought these guys are old but so good, maybe that was the reason musicians in DC were not really interested in learning any of their tunes, after learning a few of their songs and performing them in my shows all of the sudden I have become one of those old guys! The name of the band was The Buena Vista Social Club!
The results have been amazing, nowadays a lot of the Latin bands play a song or 2 from The Buena Vista Social Club, I can honestly say that they have been a big part of my musical career!
Patrick Alban & Noche Latina has been a very good band for me specially during the Madam’s Organ days.
Now I find my self changing a little and wanting to do even more acoustic Cuban tunes and also a few more American Acoustic Rock. I have a lot of requests on some old songs that I only perform once in a while.
After all my favorite artists have always been Cat Stevens, Jim Croce, Jose Feliciano and I want to play a little more of that kind of music gender…
In 2025 I am introducing a new project, with a couple of new musicians and just making it a little different, we will still be able to do our regular Latin sets if required but I want to bring this particular sound with a few more Cuban songs, and some other very cool songs that I have always wanted to learn and perform, so much respect for those guys that I have decide to name this new project “PATRICK ALBAN & HIS BUENA VISTA SOCIAL” Again I feel like I have come all the way around and now I am one of those old guys!
Very excited about 2025, I don’t know how much longer I will be able to share my music with you all, but until then I want to do it like I have always done it, my way.
Thank you for your continued support I can’t wait until you meet, hear and see the new band…"
